2011-12 Funspiel Finals

Competitors at the Funspiel Finals on Saturday 10th March were representing their region after successfully qualifying earlier in the season against other junior club teams from their area.

Aberdeen, Hamilton, Stirling and Borders junior teams were in contention in the Under 13 category with Aberdeen, Hamilton, Perth and Stranraer battling it out in the Under 15 age group.

Graham Sloan (Dumfries Curling Development Officer) commented that the teams conducted themselves very well and were a credit to their clubs.

In the Under 13 section, Borders team skipped by Amy Bryce with Angus Thomson, Kirsty Fairbairn, Gregg Cessford and Jack Fleming were victorious and received the Funspiel Trophy and individual medals.

In the Under 15 section, Stranraer finished in top spot after the round-robin. Bobby Lammie, Neil Topping, Kieran Stevenson and Euan Kyle are pictured with their prizes.

Well done to this year’s winning teams from Borders and Stranraer.

An additional Hotshots challenge was also held with each team member participating in draw-shot and strike-out disciplines. Hamilton (below top) retained the Hotshots shield in the Under 13 category and this time, Perth was victorious in the Under 15 category (below bottom).
