British Curling (BC) is responsible for delivering performance and creating a climate in which British Curlers can win medals on the world stage.
BC recognises the necessity within modern performance sport for professional leadership and support when seeking performance excellence at major sporting events. BC views such professional leadership as essential to the success of the performance plan and operational at a variety of organisational levels. The current Board was appointed on a competency-based system and has been an integral component in overseeing the strategy and implementation of the Performance Programme.
Olympic and Paralympic medals will be the foremost measure of success in this next Olympiad. BC is now in a position to advertise for Board leel posistions to take the organisation and British Curling forward to Sochi 2014 and provide a sustainable legacy for 2018.
British Curling seeks to appoint a Chairman to lead the business in this challenging environment. Elite athlete programmes and high-quality governance are key elements of the business and the successful candidate will have proven success in the following areas:
- Have a strong business background in order to provide challenge and strategic directions.
- Be experienced in chairing boards or committees that have representation from a variety of stakeholders.
- Ensuring the sport of curling is best represented on the national and international stage.
- A small honorarium may be payable for the advertised Chairman position.
