Curling this week: From 8th March

The Maxwell Trophy takes place on Tuesday 8th March at Lanarkshire Ice Rink, Hamilton. It is an annual competition between curlers of Scottish Ice Rinks, each rink being represented by three teams.

World Junior Curling Championships 2015, Tallinn, EstoniaThe final stage of the Morton Trophy also take place Tuesday 8th March at Fife Ice Arena, Kirkcaldy. The Morton Trophy is a competition between female curlers of local ladies centres, each centre being represented by three teams. The competition is played in sections throughout the season, with the top teams qualifying for the knock out stages. Each ice rink taking part will enter three teams and 2 points will be awarded for a win and 1 point for a draw.

intuice3_HDRwwebThe Scottish Schools Championship takes place from 11th to 13th March at intu Braehead. The Championship brings together the top curling teams from schools across Scotland; the four members of each team being from the same school. The teams competing at this event have secured their place having come through local qualifying events.

24 teams have made it through to this year’s finals who will be competing in four league sections with six teams in each. Section winners and runners-up will qualify for the knock-out stages.

Play gets underway at 10:00am on Friday 11th March. The final is scheduled for 3pm on Sunday 15th March.

2016 WJCC logoThe VoIP Defender World Junior Curling Championships 2016 started on Sunday 6th March in Taarnby, Denmark. Scotland has both junior men’s and women’s teams taking part, with some games being live streamed on the World Curling YouTube channel.
