Curling This Weekend 28th February to Sunday 2nd March

The final event of the Asham Under 17 Slam takes place this weekend at Dewars Centre, Perth. The Asham Under 17 Slam comprises five events at Lockerbie, Greenacres, Lanarkshire, Forfar and Perth with points awarded at each. The top three results are accumulated to determine the overall winner and winning girls team who receive spaces at the World Curling Federation Camp in Fussen, Germany in July as prizes. Team Ross Whyte currently lead the competition with 54 points but it is close at the top with only two points separating them and second placed Team Luke Carson on 52 points. Team Fraser Kingan currently lie third on 47 points. There are twenty four teams taking part in the competition over six sections. Two points will be awarded for a win and one for a draw with points also being awarded based on finishing places in the High Road & Low Road. Games will begin at 9:00am Saturday, with the finals being played at 2:00pm on Sunday 2nd March.


World Junior Curling Championships 2014, FlimsThe World Junior Championships is currently in full swing in Flims, Switzerland. Team Kyle Smith (left)  is representing Scotland as defending world champions, while Gina Aitken who leads the Scottish junior women’s team who are making their debut at this level. The Scottish men’s line-up is skip Kyle Smith, third Thomas Muirhead, second player Kyle Waddell, lead Cameron Smith and alternate Duncan Menzies while the Scottish women are skip Gina Aitken, third Naomi Brown, second player Rowena Kerr, lead Rachel Hannen and alternate Mhairi Baird. The round-robin concludes on Sunday 2nd March with the medal games taking place on Wednesday 5th March.
