Curling This Weekend: From 17th October
The next stage of the European Junior Curling Tour, a part of the Curling Champions Tour, continues in Oslo, Norway from 17th to 19th October. All four Royal Club Academy (RCA) teams will be taking part in the competition, which are: Team Bryce (Cameron Bryce, Zack Stewart, Fraser Kingan, Frazer Shaw), Team Brydone (Robin Brydone, David Baird, Calum Greenwood, Thomas Halder), Team K Aitken (Karina Aitken, Rachel Halliday, Sophie Sinclair, Laura Barr), Team Murray (Katie Murray – pictured right), Sophie Jackson, Hailey Duff, Ellie Fraser).
Also competing at the event are teams from Norway, Russia, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Sweden, with 12 men’s and 15 women’s teams taking part overall.

The 2014 Canad Inns Men’s Classic, part of the World Curling Tour, takes place from the 17th to 20th October in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Canada. Scotland’s Team Smith (Kyle Smith, Grant Hardie, Kyle Waddell – pictured left – and Cammy Smith) will be taking part in the competition along with Olympic gold medallists Team Jacobs, winners of last year’s competition Team McEwan and 2013 World Curling Championship and Olympic Bronze medallist winning skip, Niklas Edin and his new team. 32 teams will compete in the event which will be played in a triple knockout format.

The European Playdowns are currently underway at Dewars Centre, Perth. Play will begin on Thursday 16th October and continue until Sunday 19thOctober. Four men’s teams and three women’s teams will battle it out to earn the right to be Scotland’s representatives at the European Curling Championships in Champéry from 22-29 November 2014.
