Curling This Weekend: From 17th September
The Shorty Jenkins Classic 2015, a World Curling Tour event, begins this Thursday, 17th September, in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada.
Team Murdoch (David Murdoch, Greg Drummond, Scott Andrews, Michael Goodfellow) and Team Gray (Lauren Gray, Jen Dodds, Vicky Wright, Mhairi Baird) will both be competing at the event which is set to continue until Sunday 20th September.
The competition will feature a host of Canadian teams including recent Tour Challenge runners up Team Gushue and Olympic gold medallists Team Jacobs, as well as international competitors such as current World and European champions Team Edin from Sweden and 2013 European champions Team Michel from Switzerland.
24 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams will be taking part in the competition which is played over four pools in the men’s and two pools in the women’s competition.

The Asham Under 21 Slam comprises four events and was introduced to improve the pathway structure for junior curlers. Under 21 teams can develop their potential in competition formats that simulate experiences at national finals. Points from each event will be totalled together to determine the overall male and female Slam winners, each being awarded £1000 prize money.

Scottish teams Brewster (Tom Brewster, Glen Muirhead, Ross Paterson, Hammy McMillan Jnr) and Smith (Kyle Smith, Thomas Muirhead, Kyle Waddell, Cameron Smith) will be competing at the event which will feature 16 men’s teams and 22 women’s teams.
Taking part in this year’s men’s event are last year’s winner Team Botcher and runners up Team Sluchinski, as well as a number of other Canadian teams which range from junior to senior level. South Korean team Soo-Hyuk Kim is the only other non-Canadian team taking part in the competition.
