Curling This Weekend: From 26th September

This year’s Stockholm Ladies Curling Cup will be once again be held at Danderyds Curling Arena, Stockholm between Friday 26th and Sunday 28th September. There are two Scottish teams taking part in the competition Team Muirhead (Eve Muirhead, Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams and Sarah Reid) and Team Gray (Lauren Gray, Jennifer Dodds, Vicky Wright and Mhairi Baird). Other notable competitors include Olympic Gold medallists Team Jones of Canada, fellow Canadians and 2014 World Championship runners up Team Homan, Olympic Silver medallists Team Sigfridsson of Sweden, 2014 World Champions Team Feltscher of Switzerland and many more.

SCT-logoThe first leg of the Goldline Scottish Curling Tour begins this weekend with The Braehead Open which will run from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th September. There will be 28 teams taking part in the competition split over two sections of 14 teams. The competition will take a Schenkel League System format with the top eight teams from each section progressing to the High Road Knock-Out Stage, while teams ranked 9-12th in each section will progress to Middle Road and 13-14th ranked teams in each Section after the Preliminary Rounds will progress to the Low Road semi-finals. The High Road quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals will be played Sunday 28th September. Current Goldline Scottish Curling Tour champions team McCleary will again be competing this year. Also taking part are, Podium Potential teams Brewster, Smith and Fleming and Performance Foundation teams Mouat, Martin and Aitken.

Asham U17 WebThe first of the Asham Under 17 Slams begin this weekend, Saturday 27th to Sunday 28th September, at Lockerbie Ice Rink. The Asham Under 17 Slam comprises five events with points being awarded at each event. This competition offers young curlers the chance of success in their own age group and an added incentive is the coveted top prize of secured places at the World Curling Federation Camp in Fussen, Germany. The top three results will be accumulated to determine the overall winner and winning girls team.
