Curling This Weekend: What’s On 3-6 October

This weekend sees the launch of the new Asham Under 21 Slam with the Kinross Junior Classic at Kinross Curling.

The event begins at 10:00am on Friday 4th October with the finals taking place at 3:30pm on Sunday 6th October. This is the first of four Asham Under 21 Slams which include Inverness, Lockerbie and Greenacres later in the season.

The Asham Under 21 Slam is a new initiative and was launched this season to revitalise and raise the profile of existing Under 21 competitions.  Points will be awarded for each event and participants will be competing for the overall Asham Under 21 Slam title with the winning Boys and Girls Teams each receiving £1000 prize money.


There are 21 teams taking part in this competition with 9 girls teams and 13 boys teams.

PrestigeTeam Muirhead – Eve Muirhead, Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams and Claire Hamilton – are in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada for the Prestige Hotels & Resorts Curling Classic. The Asham World Curling Tour event starts today and runs until Sunday 6th October.

32 Teams will be taking part in the Triple Knockout competition with separate men’s and women’s events.

Swiss CupThree Scottish Men’s teams will be competing at the Swiss Cup Basel from Friday 4th October with 40 teams taking part overall across 8 groups in round robin format.

Logan Gray’s team of Glen Muirhead, Ross Paterson and Richard Woods are in Group C, Team Awaken Consulting – David Murdoch, Tom Brewster, Scott Andrews, Michael Goodfellow and Greg Drummond are in Group G while Grant Hardie’s team of Jay McWilliam, Hamilton McMillan Jnr and Billy Morton are in Group H.
