Adult Seminars & Courses

Scottish Curling support a variety of seminars which provide curlers advanced knowledge on the main areas of the game. These are open to any member no matter what ability or experience level. These are delivered by our elite level coaches and athletes which ensures you are given the best possible information. These provide a great opportunity for you to develop your skills and understanding of the sport in a friendly sociable environment.

Strategy & Tactics
This interactive off ice session (2 hours) is delivered by expert coaches/athletes and focuses on club strategy & tactics to get the best out of your team. It’s suitable for curlers within all playing positions to ensure all team members understand the strategy basics. The experts will also give you a short insight to elite level strategy, tactics & shots with accompanying championship footage.

Tactics and Etiquette
Focusing on tactical game elements and ensuring good practice when playing and competing.
This is an interactive seminar which provides the best possible opportunity for you to learn.

Mixed Doubles
Interested in learning more about this exciting new Winter Olympic discipline? The RCCC can provide a workshop with 1 hour initially off-ice to present on rules & strategy followed by 2 hours on-ice with participants trying this new format with guidance from mixed doubles experts!

Keep up-to-date with the latest sweeping strategies and advice provided through this 2 hour workshop (1 hour off ice and 1 hour on ice). You will get the chance to test your own sweeping strength using the latest technologies and will get advice from experts in this field.

This workshop is designed to refine your delivery technique, helping you optimise your consistency and get more enjoyment from the game. Starting with 1 hour off-ice followed by 2 hours on-ice in small groups, you can get help to identify any areas you may want to change and support and advice to make those changes too. This workshop is suitable for all curlers irrelevant of experience, and accommodates varying delivery techniques including stick delivery and wheelchair delivery.

Coaching Day
A coaching day (approx. 6 hours) can provide multiple workshops; this can be a mixture of workshops listed above and/or specific topics such as skip signals & communication, etiquette etc. Previous coaching days – including Ladies Days and Province Coaching Days – have been tailored to meet the members’ requirements. Coaching Days are very flexible and can be organised in conjunction with ice rink facilities, local curling development groups, provinces, areas and ladies centres.

Wheelchair Club Recruitment Seminar
This seminar has been developed to help Wheelchair Curling Clubs think about increasing their membership and ensuring all members have a good experience. The seminar will focus on four key themes:
• ‘Talk to Me 10 Principles’ from the English Federation of Disability Sport on making sport more appealing to disabled people
• Language and terminology
• Issues facing wheelchair users
• Marketing and publicity
