Events Coming Up This Weekend – 05/10/17 – 08/10/17
Scottish Curling Senior Mixed Championship, 6th – 8th October, Stranraer
The first national competition of the season, and a fantastic opportunity for teams who are aged 50 years or over. Stranraer Ice Rink will host this years’ Championship from Friday 6th October to Sunday 8th October. Team Wilson (pictured) are the current title holders.
Asham Under 14 Slam, 7th October, Intu Braehead
The first event of the Asham Under 14 Slam takes place at Intu Braehead this weekend. Teams will take to the ice on 7th October for the first of four one-day slam competitions, with points awarded at each event. The top three results from each team are accumulated to determine the overall Slam winner.
Goldline Scottish Curling Tour Dumfries Open 6th – 8th October
The second event in this tournamanent; the first having been played at Intu Braehead 2 weeks ago. Team Bryce took the 2017 Braehead Open title, but thoughts now turn to this weekend, in Dumfries. Teams take to the ice on Friday.
Introduction to Wheelchair Curling Coaching, 5th October, Braehead
Intu Braehead is the venue for this course, delivered by the RCCC, on Thursday 5th September from 6pm – 9pm. With this being an Olympic and Paralympic season, we expect a huge rise in interest in the sport, including wheelchair curling; it’s so important we have individuals fully trained and ready to deliver this specialist coaching.
