Fleming & Smith retain their titles

Congratulation go to Hannah Fleming’s team of Lauren Gray, Jennifer Dodds & Abi Brown on retaining the Scottish Junior women’s and Kyle Smith’s team of Thomas Muirhead, Kyle Waddell &  Cameron Smith on retaining the Scottish Junior men’s. These teams will now represent Scotland in Sochi in Russia starting on the 28 February 2013

In the Women’s event Hannah Fleming and Tasha Aitken played the 1 v 2 Page Hannah came out on top. Aitken then took on Jennifer Martin. Aitken came out on top after Martin just missed out with a straight raise for an extra end.

In the final Fleming got a big four at end five and another four in end seven which finished the game as a contest.

In the Men’s event Grant Hardie went through to the 1 v 2 page top of the section, this game against Kyle Smith  was a one sided event an 8 – 2 to win for Hardie.  The loser played the up and coming team Robin Brydone in the Sunday mornings Semi-final Smith just edged it by taking a two in end six & eight.

The final was a superb game of curling with both skips playing great draws to keep each other in the game. The Hardie team played a great last end and with two stones left to play Hardie was lying shot on the button. Hardie guard came up a just short of the house covering most of the stone on the button. Smith played a great tap back round the guard for the 5 – 4 win.

The Junior Finals at Curl Aberdeen was played in good sprit.

The competitions were played on very good ice and big thanks go to Tom Brewster and all his ice staff for this.
