Focus on Aberdeen for Scottish Junior Championships
The Scottish Curling Junior Championships return to Curl Aberdeen from Tuesday 20th to Sunday 25th January 2015. Ten junior women’s teams and nine junior men’s teams will be competing for their respective national junior titles at this annual event which brings together the best under 21 teams from across Scotland.
Amongst the junior women’s field are Gina Aitken’s (pictured) reigning champions, 2014-15 Asham Under 21 Slam winners Team Murray and Karina Aitken’s Royal Club Academy squad. Kyle Waddell and Cameron Smith, members of the team which have won the junior men’s event for the last three year’s running and achieved silver at the 2014 World Junior Curling Championships return with new teammates Callum Kinnear and Craig Waddell. The men’s field also includes 2014-15 Asham Under 21 Slam winners Team Whyte, Royal Club Academy Team Brydone and fresh from qualifying for the 2015 Scottish Curling Men’s Championship, Team Bryce.
This year the Scottish Junior Men’s and Junior Women’s Champions will represent Scotland at the World Junior Championships in Tallinn, Estonia from 28th February to 8th March 2015.
Curl Aberdeen has hosted the Scottish Curling Junior Championships since 2010 and will now host the World Junior Curling Championships in 2018 as part of an ambitious programme of four international curling championships awarded to Scotland by the World Curling Federation.
These events represent a long term commitment to the sport by The Royal Caledonian Curling Club and its bidding partners and will be a great opportunity to showcase our best talent and provide sports fans with the chance to watch world class curling on home soil.

Round round play gets underway at 8:30am on Tuesday 20th January to determine three qualifiers in both men’s and women’s events who will then play a mini Page Play-off: Team one will play team two with the winner qualifying for the final, the loser will then play team three in the semi-final. Both the junior men’s and junior women’s finals will take place on Sunday 25th January at 2:30pm.
