IGM Sponsors Try Curling and Unveil New Trophy
Employees of Alan Steel Asset Management, sponsors of the 2015 Indoor Grand Match (IGM) took to the ice at Kinross today (Friday 25th September) to try curling for themselves ahead of the event which takes place on 24th October 2015.
Phil Barton, Director at Kinross Curling along with RCCC President Billy Howat (pictured main with ASAM employees) welcomed the group of eight to the venue which has undergone major renovation in the last year. All were newcomers to the sport and were taken through the basics of the game including curling delivery and sweeping by coaches Claire Milne and Ena Stevenson.
After splitting into teams it was time for some competition with four ends of curling played, the score ending at 5-5, the fairest result!
This was also an opportunity for Alan Steel Asset Management to unveil the new Indoor Grand Match Trophy which was commissioned by the RCCC for this event. The Trophy (pictured) is a 50cm high optical glass award profiling a map of Scotland and referencing the North and South sides of the Indoor Grand Match. This sits on a black granite base with engraving plate which features the winners of the previous three Indoor Grand Matches held in 2000, 2005 and 2010. The South of Scotland has prevailed on all three occasions.
We would like to thank Alan Steel Asset Management for their participation, our coaches for their guidance and enthusiasm and Kinross Curling for their hospitality. Some photos of the day can be viewed below.
