Ladies President’s Blog Summer 2014
I cannot believe that over six weeks have slipped past since I became Ladies Branch President.
The AGM back in May was well attended in Dumfries at Easterbrook Hall and we enjoyed beautiful weather in lovely surroundings. The ladies of Dumfries Ice Bowl Curling Association put on a lovely afternoon tea which was enjoyed by all, once the formal proceedings were over.
Later that evening I joined my fellow tourists from the Tour to USA 2011 for a lovely reunion meal at Casa Mia in Dumfries.
On the Friday of that week I met with David Henderson and Bruce Crawford in Lockerbie to go over the competition calendar for the year ahead and decide who was going to attend the many competitions and arrange the joint meetings for season 2014/15.
On 30th May VP Marion Fraser, my husband Alastair and I enjoyed the hospitality of David and Frances Henderson at their home in Rockcliffe with Billy and Sue Howat. We had a lovely evening and we are all going to enjoy working for the RCCC together. David has now been elected President of the RCCC and Billy is Vice President.
On 3rd June we held our first LSC meeting with the new committee, we also had a Morton Secretaries Meeting that day. I felt I may have rushed through the agenda a little but I was very keen to get the LSC ladies away home before the hoards of “One Direction” fans made getting out of Edinburgh difficult for us all. We just made it!
The RCCC AGM was held in Dewars Centre, Perth on Saturday 14th June. I attended with my husband Alastair. We slipped away quickly after the meeting as we had a family engagement in the Lake District with the McWilliam family to celebrate Alastair’s parents Diamond Wedding Anniversary that evening.
The RCCC offered hospitality at the Highland Show on Thursday and Friday, the 19th and 20th of June. We had many visitors to the stand from the Scottish curling family and the many tray bakes and refreshments were much appreciated. Thanks to all who contributed.
On the 23rd June Past President Fiona and I joined many past presidents and friends for lunch to wish Margaret Mackay well in her retirement (pictured top).
On the 1st July the executive committee met to make the Henderson Bishop draw for 2014/15. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed a picnic lunch outside Cairnie House in the sunshine once the work had all been done (pictured left).
