Matt Murdoch Curling Foundation Junior Exchange
Now into its third year, the opportunity for two junior curlers from Scotland to attend the 2017 Trillium Curling Camp has been made possible through funding donated in memory of Matt Murdoch, past president of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club.
The Trillium Curling Camp is now in its 25th year, hosting 96 junior curlers each week. The selected juniors will receive coaching from the best coaches from Ontario and across Canada who make the camp a wonderful experience for those involved. Guest presenters in the past have included Russ Howard, Wayne Middaugh, Neil Harrison, Brad Gushue, Mark Nichols, Sherry Middaugh, Reid Carruthers, Kaitlin Lawes to name just a few as well as Scotland’s David Murdoch.
The 2017 Trillium Curling Camp will take place from 7th to 12th August at the KW Granite Club, Waterloo, Ontario with accommodation at the Wilfred Laurier University. Meals, accommodation, coaching, ice time, camp picture, shirt, daily bus travel and extra-curricular activities (swimming, bowling, pool hall, a dance and other fun, evening activities) are included in the camp. The costs for the camp will be covered by MMCF in addition to chaperones to meet those selected on arrival and departure and hosts for any additional accommodation that may be required before or after the camp.
Two spaces have been allocated by the organisers in the Advanced category for two curlers who must be aged 15 or 16 at the time of the camp with a strong level of competitive experience. Of the two allocated spaces, one individual will be selected who curls in Lockerbie.
