Preview: The Scottish Mixed Championship
The Scottish Mixed Championship gets underway at Curl Aberdeen Friday 29th March. Twenty mixed teams – of two men and two women playing in alternate positions – from across Scotland representing Aberdeen, Murrayfield, Perth, Galleon, Inverness, Kirkcaldy, Stranraer, Stirling, Forfar, Borders, Lockerbie and Greenacres will be competing across four sections.
Play starts at 11:00am on Friday and the competition runs until Sunday 31st March when the quarters, semis and final are scheduled for 9:00am, 12noon and 3:00pm respectively.
The winning team will also get the opportunity to represent Scotland at the 2013 European Mixed Championship. Last year, Ewan MacDonald’s Scottish Mixed Champions defeated Sweden in the final of the European Mixed Curling Championship in Erzurum, Turkey to win Gold and the 2012 title.
They are once again amongst the field at this year’s Scottish Mixed and will no doubt be attracting extra attention with newly crowned World Women’s Champion Eve Muirhead part of the team.
