The final event in this year’s Under 17 Slam will be played to a conclusion over Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th April at Dewars Centre Perth.
30 boys, girls and mixed teams will be taking part in the Perth decider which will crown the overall 2012/13 Slam winners and top girls team. Teams have been accumulating points over the last five Slam events at Perth, Lockerbie, Greenacres, Lanarkshire and Forfar with current standings based on their best three results so far.
The top two teams going into this event are Ross Whyte with his team of Bobby Lammie, Neil Topping & Euan Kyle on 60 points and David Baird with his team of Gavin Barr, James Baird & Callum McLean on 59.
The top two girls teams are currently on equal points – 38 – and are Naomi Brown with her team of Karina Aitken, Sophie Sinclair & Laura Barr and Katie Murray with her team of Sophie Jackson, Ellen Boomer & Amy Bryce.
None of the top two boys teams are previous winners however Katie and Sophie were both members of last year’s Under 17 Slam winning girls team.
The scene is set for an exciting end to this year’s Under 17 Slam with everything to play for. The overall winning team and top girls team will secure places at the WCF Junior Camp in Germany this summer, a coveted prize provided by The Royal Caledonian Curling Club which includes team flights, camp entry fees and accommodation.
