RCCC International Representatives Wanted

The World Curling Federation (WCF) and European Curling Federation (ECF) are the current World and European International Federations for curling with approx 50 and 34 Member Associations respectively.  The roles of the WCF and ECF include:

  • Governing and representing the international interests of the curling community
  • Liaison with the International Olympic Committee and International Paralympic Committee
  • Conducting World/European curling competitions
  • Formulating the rules and systems of play for WCF/ECF approved competitions
  • Promoting cooperation and mutual understanding amongst Member Associations.

Appointment of Royal Club Reps:

The Royal Caledonian Curling Club can have four representatives at WCF and ECF meetings, these individuals are appointed by and report to the Royal Caledonian Curling Club’s Board of Directors.  The Chief Executive is a fixed appointment and the other three representatives are appointed for a period of 3 years, on a rolling programme to ensure continuity, nations must appoint at least one man and one woman.   The Royal Caledonian Curling Club reps meet with the Chairman and President at the International Relations Committee, 2 or 3 times per year, to discuss international issues and how to represent the interests of Scottish curling.  Travel & accommodation expenses for meetings are paid by Royal Caledonian Curling Club Club with support from UK Sport.

Nominations are sought from the membership of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club and the application process is straightforward with a letter outlining the person’s relevant skills and experience. Application details are posted on the Royal Caledonian Curling Club website when required or persons can enquire from the office.


  • To attend and contribute to WCF/ECF meetings which may take about 6 days per year
  • To attend and contribute to the International Relations Committee of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club
  • To consult with Royal Caledonian Curling Club members on matters of policy relevant to WCF/ECF
  • To represent the views of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club Board and members at WCF/ECF
  • To inform the Royal Caledonian Curling Club Board and staff of WCF/ECF issues, developments and decisions taken that may affect Scotland.
  • To contribute to the WCF/ECF report to the Royal Caledonian Curling Club’s AGM.
  • To build relationships with representatives from other Member Associations to promote and sustain the position of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club as the ‘mother club of curling.’
  • To play an active part in committees, work groups or projects as required by WCF/ECF.

Requirements of Reps:

To be considered as a Rep, you will need the following:

  • Be a current member of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the policies/practices/organisation of curling in Scotland
  • Extensive knowledge of international competition, eg. as a player, coach or umpire
  • An understanding of issues facing athletes on the pathways to World and European Championship competitions
  • Good communication and presentation skills and the ability to network and influence
  • Credibility as an international ambassador for Scotland with the membership of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club
