Scots make World Mixed Championship Quarter Finals
The Scottish team of Cameron Bryce, Katie Murray, Bobby Lammie and Sophie Jackson have progressed to the quarter finals of the World Mixed Curling Championship, currently taking place in Kazan, Russia.
The team are unbeaten so far, having topped their group in the round robin stages, with six consecutive wins. This secured their place in the top 16, where they came up against Team USA. After forcing a one in the first, and taking a three in the second they kept the lead for the rest of the game, with the USA blanking the fifth, sixth and seventh ends, and finally running out of stones in the eighth end; final score 4-1 to Scotland.
The Scots will now face Canada – who are also yet to lose a game – in the quarter finals, after the Canadians beat the Czech Republic 6-2 in their top 16 game. The quarter final will be played at 5pm this evening (Friday 21 October).
