Scottish Curling Championships Review
This season the RCCC invited Competitors and Coaches to complete a survey after each stage of the Scottish Curling Championship to gather feedback and opinion to enable us to deliver competitions and events which support the needs of our membership. The feedback we received identified the need for change and the challenges of the existing structure have been looked into and a proposal has been put forward with the view of starting in the 2014-15 season.
With reducing numbers competing in the Scottish Championships and the standard of play throughout the World rising, especially in the emerging countries, Scotland needs to keep abreast of the challenges that face the sport going forward, or we are in danger of falling behind.
The proposal looks to cover some of these issues; to enhance preparation for representative teams; give more opportunity and experience to teams on the pathway to World Class; help boost domestic competition and to culminate in a Scottish Championship, which simulates World Class conditions, with investment from British Curling, creating a showcase for Scottish Curling.
Consultation has taken place with the relevant RCCC Committees and players who participated in the 2013-14 Scottish Curling Championships were invited to attend a meeting to discuss the proposal. Please click here to view the proposal.
