Scottish Junior Athletes Boosted By Pre-Season Training
Junior athletes took to the ice recently at Intu Braehead for pre-season Training Days, the first on Sunday 23rd August when Academy athletes had a busy team day. There were a number of on and off ice sessions including Technical Profiling, Sport Psychology, Goal Setting, Team Dynamics and Performance Lifestyle.

The second Training Day was held on Sunday 30th August for junior curlers who aspire to be in the Academy programme (pictured top and left). This was a similar set up consisting of Technical Profiling, Teamwork Drills, Sweeping, Goal Setting and Tactics.
Many thanks to British Curling, Sportscotland and RCCC coaches for their assistance during the very successful training days; Tony Zummack (Technical Profiling & Sweeping), Cate Brewster (Team Drills), Laura Carey (Psychology), Brown Ferguson (Performance Lifestyle), David Reid (Tactics), Maggie Bush (Warm Ups), David Ramsay and David Aitken (Academy Team Coaches).
Further development seminars for junior curlers are planned to be held at junior events. The first on “Being a Good Team mate” will be held by our Welfare Officer, Lindsey Booth, on Saturday 26th September at Lockerbie Ice Rink. The times for this will be incorporated into the Under 17 draw for those playing, but all junior curlers are encouraged to attend where possible. More information on dates and times of further training are to follow.
