Scottish Junior Finals – Results
Congratulations to Hannah Fleming and her team of Lauren Gray, Alice Spence & Abigail Brown, and Kyle Smith and his team of Thomas Muirhead, Kyle Waddell and Kerr Drummond on winning the Scottish Junior Curling Championships at the weekend. Both teams will represent Scotland at the World Junior Curling Championships in Östersund, Sweden 3-11 March 2012.
In the women’s event Jennifer Dodds and Hannah Fleming played the 1 v 2 Page. After a steal of three in the first and a score of two in the second Team Fleming were in full control and Team Dodds conceded defeat in the eighth end (8-2).
Jennifer Dodds then played Hazel Smith in the semi-finals. This game was close, with Team Smith winning 8-6 in an extra end.
In the final it the was pretty much one-way traffic, with Team Fleming scoring two in the second, four in the fourth and singles in the sixth, seventh and eighth ends, against Team Smith’s singles in the third and fifth, to win the match 9-2 after eight ends.
In the men’s event Jay McWilliam, who finished top in the section, and Kyle Smith played the 1 v 2 Page. It was a close encounter with no score until the ninth end when a draw to the button gave Team McWilliam a two and the win to progress to the final (2-0).
Kyle Smith faced Blair Fraser in the semi-finals. This game went down to the last stone with Team Smith coming out on top 6-4.
The final was controlled by Team Smith with a steal of one in the third and a big two in the eight and ninth (7-2).

The Junior Finals at Curl Aberdeen was played in good spirit with all players taking heed of the new discipline procedure put in place for brush abuse.
The competitions were played on very good ice and big thanks go to Tom Brewster and all his ice staff for this.
