Sweden Beat Canada for Gold

Sweden’s double Olympic champion Anette Norberg and her team of Cecilia Ostlund, Sara Carlsson and Lotta Lennartssen won the final of the Capital One World Women’s Curling Champions in Esbjerg, Denmark on Sunday afternoon, beating Canada’s Amber Holland by 7-5.

This was Norberg’s third world title and she won it the hard way. The trams were tied at 5-5 after nine ends, and Canada had last stone advantage. But Norberg built up four of her own stones round the target and eventually, Holland’s last draw shot came up short, giving Sweden a steal of two and the title.

Before that, Canada seemed set for the win, scoring three in the fourth end to take the lead, but the Swedes hung on and finally their pressure told.
