Too warm in Scotland!

European Champion Eve Muirhead’s picture sums up the disappointment felt by many curlers when George Square’s scheduled curling had to be cancelled on Hogmanay.

The two sheets were marked, the hacks were in, stones, brushes & curlers were at the ready….but unfortunately the puddles on the top of the ice and the rising temperature  left the ice surface dangerous and unplayable.

Eve Muirhead provided a signing session and took the time to chat to curlers and non-curlers alike. Clyde 1 FM promoted curling throughout the week leading up to Hogmanay and provided prizes to 16 listeners for a lesson with Rhona Martin; these lessons will now be arranged at an indoor rink before the end of the season.

Whilst disappointing that the event did not go ahead on this occasion, a review meeting will be taking place soon and it is hoped to include curling at future events in conjunction with Glasgow Life.
