Trustee Wanted – Scottish Curling Trust

The Scottish Curling Trust Ltd (the Charity) is a registered charity (SC038043), established in 2006 in order to provide greater access to and preserve the history of the sport of curling.

The Charity is a voluntary community organisation and is operated by volunteers. The Charity is governed by a Board of Trustees, there are currently four Trustees and they provide strategic leadership to the organisation, ensuring that policies and strategies have maximum impact, while providing effective governance of the Charity, including risk and financial management.

The Charity was set up with three objectives:

  • to encourage and actively promote public participation in curling;
  • to preserve, conserve, interpret and display the art, heritage and culture of curling;
  • to make provision for disabled people and those who are impaired or have special needs to introduce them to and assist them in their enjoyment of curling.

The Charity works alongside The Royal Caledonian Curling Club, and a range of other partners to achieve the stated objectives. The opportunity
The Charity has decided to seek a new Trustee who will bring additional skills to the organisation and help it to advance the stated objectives. You would need to be able to make a commitment to the organisation and devote the necessary time (normally not more than 4 meetings per year in Stirling), have strategic vision, independent judgement, an ability to think creatively and a willingness to say what you think.

Your skills and experience
The new Trustee will bring skills from their own experience in the sport of curling as well as wider business experience. Proven experience in one or more of the areas of: public participation in curling, disability curling or sports heritage would be advantageous. Willingness to get involved in fundraising or project management are essential.
