Weekend Preview: 14-16 October

This weekend, Forfar Indoor Sports hosts two competitions which will see a wide variety of curlers taking to the ice to compete in either The Forfar Open, the third leg in the Scottish Curling Tour,  or the first leg of the Royal Club Women’s Tour .

Fifteen  teams will compete in the Forfar Open and the competition will be run in three sections of five. Results from the competition can be found here. Frazer Hare and Kyle Smith lead the overall standings after two legs of the Tour. Further information can be found here.

The Royal Club Women’s Tour will get underway on Friday at 6.30pm when the 12 competing teams will take to the ice for their first game. The full draw can be downloaded here. This Women’s Tour is in its second year after being established in 2010, the inaugural Tour title was won by Jackie Lockhart. To follow the results of the weekend, click here.

Two teams on the World Class Curling Programme are competing out in Canada this weekend in events on the World Curling Tour. Sarah Reid and her new line-up of Lorna Vevers, Rachael Simms and Barbara McPake will compete in the South Western Ontario Charity Women’s Charity Cashspiel. The triple knockout event with a prize purse of $24,000 CDN up for grabs. Team Reid will start the competition on Friday at 9am (2pm GMT) against Team McGhee. Click here to go to the event website.

Eve Muirhead and her team have travelled onwards from Calgary to Medicine Hat this week to compete in another event on the World Curling Tour calendar, the Meyers Norris Penny Charity Classic. The triple knockout competition will get underway on Friday morning, with Team Muirhead taking to the ice at 3pm (10pm GMT) against Team MacInnes.
