Weekend Preview: 20-23 October
The Curling Masters Champery takes place this weekend at the Palladium de Champery (the venue for the 2010 Le Gruyere European Curling Championships. This competition is a new event on the Curling Champions Tour with thirty top men’s teams competing in six sections, including four Scottish teams. The teams skipped by David Murdoch, Tom Brewster, David Edwards and Logan Gray will contest in the competition which starts tongiht (Thursday). Team Brewster will be the first team to take to the ice at 1815 tonight (1715 UK time) against Team Freiberger of Switzerland, with Gray v De Cruz, Murdoch v Klima and Edwards v Pescia all at 2100 (2000 UK time). Over in Norway, five Scottish teams will compete in the Oslo Junior Curling event. Bruce Mouat and Kyle Smith will be playing in the junior boys event and Hannah Fleming, Jennifer Dodds and Jennifer Martin will compete in the girls competition. Twelve teams will compete in the girls event and twelve teams in the boys event with 25,000 NOK up for grabs in each event. The results from the competition can be found here. The Gogar Salver and the Dunvegan Trophy will take place at Murrayfield Curling Rink over the weekend with junior sides from around the country. The games begin on Saturday at 9am and commence throughout the day with semi-finals at 12.30pm on Sunday and the final at 3pm.
The inaugural National Super League Finals will take place at Forfar Indoor Sports this weekend where the top teams from the Ice Rink superleagues around the country come together and compete for the prestigious title of National Superleague Champion.
