World Championship playoff will go ahead

We are delighted the World Championship Playoff at The Dewars Centre in Perth will take place as planned, this weekend. All the teams involved have shown unfaltering commitment, to what promises to be a fantastic event and we hope as many ticket holders as possible can still make it.

The event has been borne out of some quite unusual circumstances. Due to the Olympic season the Scottish Championships were held during the Olympic Games. The winners of the Women’s and Men’s Scottish Championships, Team Fleming and Team Mouat, will now compete in a head to head against the Olympic teams, Team Muirhead and Team Smith, to determine which team will be our representatives at their respective World Championships in March/April 2018. This is a rare event that will provide a one-off opportunity to showcase the sport with the winner being determined by a best of three games series across two days.

The rinks of Kyle Smith and Eve Muirhead will be competing fresh from the Winter Olympics. Both teams will be looking to bounce back with strong performances after missing out on medals in Pyeonchang.

They will face the newly-crowned Scottish champions, Team Mouat and Team Fleming. Both teams gave stellar performances at the Scottish Championships with Team Mouat remaining undefeated throughout tournament and Hannah Fleming’s overcoming Team Jackson in an extra end to secure her first title.

Live coverage of the event will still be available on the BBC Sport Scotland website at Despite the adverse weather the BBC remain totally supportive and committed to their coverage.

The WORLD MEN’S CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP will take place in LAS VEGAS, USA between 31st March – 8th April and The FORD WORLD WOMEN’S CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP will take place in North Bay, Canada between 17th – 25th March.

We appreciate that some ticket holders may not be able to attend due to the weather.

Anyone affected will be offered a full refund on the price of their ticket, simply get in touch through the Eventbrite site.
