World Medallist returns to Dumfries for RCCC seminar
Irantzu Gracia won Spain’s first ever World curling medal in Dumfries by taking bronze at the 2014 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. Last night, Irantzu made a return visit to Dumfries Ice Bowl to join twice previous Scottish Curling Mixed Doubles Champion, Judith McCleary, to deliver a Master Mixed Doubles event, one of the many seminars being supported by RCCC this year.
The Master Mixed Doubles seminar offers curlers an introduction to the rules and strategy as well as an opportunity to try the mixed doubles format themselves. There was a mix of juniors, adults, seniors and wheelchair curlers at Dumfries with great interaction from all involved and an enthusiasm to start playing this alternative format regularly.
Dumfries has fully embraced the mixed doubles curling format with a league for local curlers and an upcoming CCT Mixed Doubles competition (26-28 Feb) which is fully subscribed with 24 national and international teams.
If you are interested in hosting a seminar for your local area please contact RCCC Development Manager, Fiona Kennedy to discuss.
