Equity / Ethics

PrintSports equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about changing the culture and structures of sport to ensure that it becomes equally accessible to all members of society, whatever their age, religious belief, race, colour, nationality, disability, sexuality, culture or ethnic or national origin, sex, pregnancy, marital status, HIV status, gender reassignment or is disadvantaged by any condition or requirement which cannot be shown to be justifiable.

In relation to curling this means:
Making sure that everyone who wants to participate in curling has the opportunity to do so;
Taking steps to remove barriers to participating in curling – Either overt or less obvious forms;
Ensuring no discrimination occurs within curling; and taking positive steps to address inequalities.
Scottish Curling is committed to promoting and achieving equity and to ensuring that unlawful discrimination is eliminated.
