Goldline Scottish Curling Mixed Doubles Championship

Competition gets underway later this week (Thursday 20th) at the Goldline Scottish Curling Mixed Doubles at intu Braehead, . The format is gaining in popularity, as Doug Flowers, CEO of Goldline, our title sponsors explains:

”The Mixed Doubles game is important to curling on many levels. At the upper echelon it gives curling more exposure at the Olympics and other national and world events. Equally important, it meets prevailing demand at the club level for shorter games, it fills the club’s draw schedule, and contributes to the club’s vibrancy. As such Goldline is pleased to sponsor the Scottish Curling Mixed Doubles”

Scotland’s current Mixed Doubles Champions are Jayne Stirling and Fraser Kingan. Jayne told us they’re under a bit more pressure this year:

Jayne Stirling and Fraser Kingan, Scottish Curling Mixed Doubles Champions.

”We are really looking forward to it; and pretty well prepped. We’ve had some good results on competitions in preparation for this event, including winning a silver medal at the New Zealand winter games which took place in the South Island in August.

It feels different this year, there’s some extra pressure of course going in as reigning champs but were not putting any pressure ourselves.

This format suits us so much, we’re really pleased that Goldline is supporting the mixed doubles format.  We’ve been enjoying promoting mixed doubles at Under 17 events, across Scotland and if anything we’ve fallen even more in love with the format over the last 12 months!”

Good luck to all the teams involved!
