Norway Retain Stirling Wheelchair International Title

Team Norway retained the Stirling Wheelchair Curling International Invitation title at The Peak, Stirling on Friday 23rd October.

Their opponents in the final, USA, went straight to the 1 V 2 game after finishing top of the round robin rankings, six wins. Norway and Russia were level on five wins but with Norway beating Russia in the round robin games it was they who joined USA in the top game.

Norway and USA swapped singles over first three ends; 2 – 1 Norway. In the fourth end USA get their two and head into break one shot to the good. The fates were then to frown on USA who were destined not to take one shot in the second half of the game. A blank end followed the break, USA remain one shot up. A double to Norway in end six after some really skilful play including a hit and roll behind cover that USA never managed to counter.

In the seventh end Norway kept the house clean and after a USA mistake stole a single and headed into the last end two shots up. Another clinical end by Norway in cleaning up everything the USA tried saw handshakes before the end.
