Adult Camp – Great To Be Back!
From the 8-10 October twenty two curlers from across Scotland descended on North West Castle in Stranraer for the welcome return of our annual Adult Camp.
Coaches Layla Al Saffar, Stuart Biegala, Dougie Laird and Marion Murdoch lead for the final time by David Jones delivered sessions in delivery techniques, video analysis, sweeping and tactics and the groups competed in the traditional challenges of 3 end games, Hot Shots and Puck Curling.
Head of Development Maggie Wilson had her first taste of Adult Camp and reflected on the weekend:
‘It was just fantastic to see how much the participants enjoyed the weekend and hear what they had learned. Thank you must go to all the coaches and to Gail and all her staff at North West Castle Hotel. It is the perfect location for the camp and the hotel facilities and hospitality were fantastic with ice rink and accommodation all in the same building.’
Participant feedback was really encouraging:
‘Adult camp is a great way to spend the weekend for curlers of all levels of experience. Whether still new to the game or a curler with a good few years on the ice, it’s an opportunity to brush up your skills at the beginning of the season, develop new skills and all in a supportive and very friendly environment. Coaches help tailor make the learning to your requirements and of course, there’s room for a wee bit of competitive curling too!
With the venue being a hotel as well, on and off the ice, the hotel team provided a fantastic service not to mention great food, drink and hospitality. There was time to socialise with the participants and the facility to buy curling equipment if needed – all under the one roof.
If you haven’t yet been to a curling camp – give it a try!
We already can’t wait for next year’s camp…
