Business Experience
Please detail any business and/or corporate governance experience and skills you have.
Whilst I have not yet served on the board of a major organisation, I did study company law, corporate governance and similar subjects at university and retain a working knowledge of the key issues and challenges.
Specific Experience
Do you have experience in the following fields?
Equality, diversity and inclusion: Working for Natwest Group has involved significant amounts of training in equality, diversity and inclusion. Being a large, international and heavily regulated organisation, the bank must keep up with (and be seen to be keeping up with) all recent legal and societal developments with regards to equality, diversity and inclusion with how the bank conducts itself internally.
In addition, given that the bank deals with and is relied upon by the general public, significant thought and attention is given to ensuring our dealings with the public and the products we offer are framed with the appropriate level of attention to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Legal: I began my career working in the private client department of a high street law firm. I gained experience of helping clients with their various issues in this area, including writing Wills, writing Powers of Attorneys and dealing with the Estates of deceased persons.
Building on this foundation, I recently to the Everyday Banking and Payments legal team at Natwest Group. I gained experience of the challenges of this sector, gaining an in-depth understanding of regulatory frameworks, compliance issues, transactional intricacies and various areas of risk that the bank must deal with. Working in a corporate setting has allowed me to contribute to the legal facets of financial operations on a broader scale, engaging with the complexities of banking and payments law.
HR: No.
Income Generation: No.
Personal Statement
Please tell us about why you want to be a director, detailing your motivations and what makes you the right person for this role.
I have played curling since a very young age. I’ve gained many lifelong friends from the sport and have had many amazing experiences having been funded by British Curling for several years. Curling has been integral in shaping the person I am today.
I’m passionate about giving back to the sport that has given me so much, and using my professional skills and expertise to assist in overcoming the challenges that the sport currently faces.
