ASN SCHOOLS FLOOR CURLING PROJECT
Scottish Curling are delighted to announce the launch of our Additional Support Needs (ASN) Schools Floor Curling Project, funded by the Peter Harrison Foundation through the Scottish Curling Trust.
The aim of this project is to increase access to curling for children with additional needs through the supply of floor curling kits to ASN schools which they can use for free until the end of the school year. We hope that the use of this equipment will inspire pupils to take up the sport and try curling on ice at their local rink or even join a club.
Delivery of sessions using the equipment can take any form that teachers would like and we will supply every school with a coaching resource and access to our Ready, Steady, Curl coaching workshop should they wish to attend.
Curling is a truly inclusive sport and we are excited to continue to focus on disability and inclusion participation through this project, as is central to our recently published strategy Sweeping Change – The Future of Curling. Further information about the project can be seen on the flyer below.
If you are a teacher, pupil, or parent at an ASN school and would like to see floor curling take place at your school, please pass this information on to the relevant contact at your school and ask them to complete the application form below the flyer. If you have any questions about the project, please email development@scottishcurling.org. Further information on Inclusive Curling is available here.
