Bumper Weekend of Curling Ahead; Home and Away!
Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2021, Lillehammer, Norway
After an enforced 18 month break for most curlers, it feels fanstastic to be back to competition at our Flagship Scottish Curling Junior Championships 2021, at Curl Aberdeen.
The European Curling Champs are of course ongoing in Norway, with Scotland facing Sweden in the final of the men’s and women’s side. To top it off, the Scottish Wheelchair Curling Assosiation are holding their National Pairs competiton in Kinross. It is a very busy weekend, with curlers from across the spectrum – wheelchiar, junior and elite – going for gold.

Both Scotland’s men and women are facing Sweden in the finals of the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2021.

Scottish Curling Junior Championships – Curl Aberden, till Sunday

There’s been some fierce competiton this week with 6 teams in the women’s event, and 9 in the men’s. The field is open with previous Scottish Junior Champions throughout, and all teams capable of making a run to the playoffs.

Success on the world stage likely beckons for some of these young players, who will be looking to Team Moaut and Muirhead for inspiration this weekend.
SWCA National Pairs 2021

The SWCA are delighted to be holding their National Pairs this weekend at Kinross Curling Rink. The competition will be the first national wheelchair curling competition to be held in Scotland in almost 2 years and we are very much looking forward to seeing many of our members take to the ice and compete again.
15 pairs will play a round robin format starting Saturday morning with the semi finals and final scheduled for Sunday afternoon. It’s sure to be a great weekend of wheelchair curling with players from all over the country entered including former Paralympic medalists and defending champions Jim Gault & Gregor Ewan and his fellow current GB squad members Norma Woods & Stewart Pimblett.
