DAVID MURDOCH RESIGNS AS OLYMPIC HEAD COACH
David Murdoch has resigned as Olympic Head Coach for British Curling and will be taking up a post with Curling Canada in due course. Thank you for everything, David, and all the best for your next chapter!
David has played a major role in the uplift in performances across the Olympic disciplines since he retired from playing and took on a coaching role, followed by stepping into the Olympic Head Coach position in 2018. He will finish work at the National Curling Academy today, 2 February, and is then on a period of garden leave prior to commencing work with Curling Canada.
British Curling expressed their disappointment at seeing him leave and head to a major competitor, but understands the family reasoning and opportunities this presents David, his wife, and young family.
British Curling will commence recruitment for the Olympic Head Coach position in the coming weeks (prior to the Women’s World Championships in Sweden commencing Saturday 18 March). They are confident there will be excellent internal, domestic, and worldwide interest in this role, and the longer term strategy and approach (and the drive for further success) being implemented by British Curling is not impacted by this change.
