Future Leaders off to a Flying Start
In September, applications opened for this season’s Future Leaders programme which once again is being supported by Scottish Curling Trust. This year, applications were accepted for new young people aged 14-18 years old to join the returning leaders from last season in a new two-year format.
Following a successful recruitment process, seven new young people have joined seven returning Future Leaders from the 23/24 cohort.
We are pleased to announce Future Leaders for this season are:
| Arran Bauer – Stirling | Amy Seftor – Edinburgh |
| Emma Bacon – Greenacres | Carla Morris – Dumfries |
| Erin McCluskey – Dumfries | Connor Boyd – Kinross |
| Jessica Maxwell – Stranraer | Finlay Williams – Aberdeen |
| Katie Keegan – Stranraer | Joe Lindsay – Forfar |
| Marianna Ward – Preston/Dumfries | Logan Hodge – Borders |
| Toby Hall – Dumfries | Megan Hutchison – Dumfries |
On 12th October, the group came together for the first time to at STEP in Stirling which allowed the Future Leaders to visit the SCT store and learn more about the functions and intentions of the Trust.
The first half of the day consisted of young people engaging in team building and networking tasks as well as hearing from Peter, Digital Community Coordinator at Scottish Curling, who delivered a session on Digital Content.
Following lunch, the young people took a tour of the SCT store and had a go at creating social media content around pieces within the store. Keep an eye out for the content being posted soon!
Future Leaders also spent time discussing some hot topics around curling and providing their opinions as the next generation of curlers. Second year Future Leaders also started planning their community projects which they will look to carry out within their club or ice rink this season.
There are three more sessions scheduled during the season, which include formal training delivered by external organisations including Scottish Sports Futures and guest speakers sharing their experiences.
