Business Experience
Please detail your relevant business and corporate governance experience and skills that would make you a good Vice President for the organisation.
I have been a farmer/contractor all my working life.
I am well conversed in the running of a business along with employment law where I have employed a number of employees for many years. Also dealing with numerous companies concerning buying, selling of farming goods such as cereal crops, potatoes, machinery. My business has extending to exporting seed potatoes to countries such as Egypt, Canary islands. Latterly I have been able to take more of a back seat as my Son entered to business over ten years ago, which has allowed me to get more involved in curling administration.
Volunteer Experience
Please outline any volunteering experience you have gained within curling and/or elsewhere.
My volunteering experience in curling has been coaching for 24 years at National and International level. Which included World Juniors, World Ladies, Universiade games (GBR).
Also have been in charge of statisticians at World Championship level.
Elected to Board of Directors for past 4 years, where i have been Competitions Convener for the past 3 years.
I am currently Scottish Curling`s representative on Selection panel for teams to represent Scottish curling at Worlds and Europeans.
Personal Statement
Please tell us about why you want to be Vice President, detailing your motivations and what make you the right person for this role.
I feel that having represented Scotland at World Senior level and been on the board of directors for the past 4 years along with my coaching experience I would like to take the next step and see it as being an honour to be nominated for the post of vice-president.
