Please detail your relevant business and corporate governance experience and skills that would make you a good director for the organisation:
On completion of Agricultural College at Edinburgh I joined the family farming business in 1975. I have continued growing and expanding the farming business for the past 45 years where I have gained considerable organisational, communication, and negotiation skills dealing with various companies large and small in the agricultural industry.
When my Son joined the business as a partner in 2014 where further expansion has taken place to where we currently employ 5 full time staff along with several seasonal employee’s throughout the year.
The skills I have obtained would enable me to make a contribution to the position of director for Scottish
Curling.
Do you have experience in the following fields?
Legal experience: No
HR experience: As an employer with 5 full time members of staff and further seasonal workers I am fully versed with payroll, health & safety, employment legislation, risk assessment procedures.
Income generation experience: No
Personal Statement
Please tell us about why you want to be a director, detailing your motivations and what makes you the right person for this role:
The sport of curling has been a large part of my life for over 40 years. In this time I have gained considerable insight into all aspects of the sport.
My playing career consists of Member of successful Scotland touring team to Canada 2003. Scottish Senior Champion (7 times), World Senior Champion, Scottish Masters, Mixed, and Pairs Champion.
I have had the pleasure to be involved in the sport starting at Club level all the way through to International level with some fantastic times over the years and I would very much like to use all of this experience to continue my contribution to the sport.
