Kelso win Scottish Schools Championship

Congratulations to Kelso High School on winning the Scottish Schools Championship 2013. Winners – Kelso High School;  Cameron Bryce, Neil Sutherland, Amy Bryce & Callum Potts. Runners up – Stranraer Academy 1: Bobby Lammie, Neil Topping, Euan Kyle & Stewart Kyle.

The 53 rinks started the competition and 24 Qualified for the Finals which took place at Murrayfield Curling 15 -17 March.  The ice was very good with a good swing.

Two one sided semi-finals took place each game only lasted six ends.  Stranraer Academy 1 (7) v Dumfries Academy (1) & Forfar Academy (2) v Kelso High (10).

In the Final Kelso won the toss and blanked the first end and just missed a difficult tap back for three in end two. Score 1 – 0 Kelso. A front to back double by Stranraer blanked end three. In end four Stranraer hit on the nose against two. Score 1 – 1 after four. A good end  played in end five led to Kelso picking up two shots they had an outside chance of three. Great shots were played in six which eventually led to another blank end. Score 3 – 1 Kelso. Stranraer had to draw the four foot but was to heavy Kelso stole one. Stranraer ran out of stones in the last end Final Score 4 – 1.
