LOCKERBIE ICE RINK ASHAM UNDER 17 SLAM

Lockerbie Ice Rink was the venue for the Asham U17 Slam event on 30/31 October 2021. 14 teams from all over Scotland competed in this competition, with 4 sections being played and group winners and runners-up keenly contesting for a place in either the high or the low road knockout stage. The high road competition was sponsored locally by McJerrow & Stevenson and the Sport & Trophy Shop with the low road being sponsored by Lockerbie & District Rotary Club. Asham Curling Supplies provided prizes to the winners and runners up respectively of the high road.

There were a number of exciting games played over the weekend on good ice conditions.

The winners of the high road, for the JEM Stevenson Quaich were a team from Dumfries, pictured above, consisting of Orin Carson (Skip), Logan Carson, Archie Hyslop & Charlie Gibb. The runners up were Amy Mitchell (Skip), Kirsty Gallagher, Caragh Hamilton & Jodi Bass representing Greenacres, pictured below left. Third place went to the rink of Ewan Jackson (Skip), Rory McNair, Aaron Fergusson & Callum Young from The Peak who beat the Perth rink of Arran Thomson, Lewis McCabe, James Gorton & Sam McConnachie into 4th place.

The winners of the low road for the Rotary Shield were a rink from Dumfries consisting of Erin Stewart (Skip), Jessica Trotter, Tia Laurie & Katie Donald, Runners up were Jennifer Jahn (Skip), Eve Marchbank, Hannah Green & Rebecca Dalgliesh form Dumfries.. Third place in the low road went to the Curl Aberdeen team of (Skip), Ethan Brewster, Sam Lynch, Luke Perras & Fraser Riddoch, who defeated Calum Skea (Skip), Arran Bruce, Hamish Baird & Ben Watson from Forfar. The winners and runners up are pictured below.

At the presentation which was over seen by Marion Murdoch Scottish Curling delegate, Alistair Stevenson presented the JEM Stevenson Quaich, Gordon Dinwoodie presented the high road prizes and Ian Sloan presented the Rotary Shield and low road prizes.

The usual thanks were conveyed at the presentation ceremony namely the sponsors, Lockerbie Ice rink for hosting this event, Lisa Peters and her team of umpires, ice/bar/catering staff and all players who entered to make this a most enjoyable weekend.
