MATT MURDOCH MEMORIAL JUNIOR MIXED DOUBLES GETS UNDERWAY IN DUMFRIES

The inaugural Matt Murdoch Memorial Junior Mixed Doubles event, co-hosted by Scottish Curling Academy (SCA) and Matt Murdoc Curling Foundation (MMCF) gets underway today in Dumfries. Twenty-four teams are competing for a chance to earn a funded trip to the EJCT Mixed Doubles competition in Sweden next year.

With athletes hailing from all across Scotland, from Moray to Stranraer, a variety of experience levels on the ice, and a top prize of the opportunity to travel to Sweden for the Nordic Junior Curling Tour Mixed Doubles event on the line, it’s sure to be a highly competitive weekend of curling. The full team list is available here.

The first draw gets underway at 6pm on Friday evening (the full draw is available here). Live scores will be available throughout the weekend on the Scottish Curling website here, and there will also be live streaming from the event (keep an eye on the Scottish Curling and MMCF Facebook pages). Spectators are most welcome at Dumfries Ice Bowl throughout the weekend.

MMCF was set up following the sad passing of past Royal Caledonian Curling Club President Matt Murdoch. The Foundation strives to offer young Scottish curlers world-class opportunities to develop their game and hopes that this new event will help future stars of the game hone their skills in curling’s newest Olympic discipline.

Detailed event rules are available here.
