About The Scottish Curling Trust
The Scottish Curling Trust is a registered charity committed to safeguarding the heritage of curling, one of Scotland’s most iconic and historic sports. Through our efforts, we aim to celebrate and share the stories, artifacts, and traditions that have shaped curling over the centuries. We are also deeply committed to increasing participation in the sport and making the sport accessible to all.
Our mission is to ensure that the legacy of curling is cherished and passed on to future generations and our charitable aims are to:
- Encourage and actively promote public participation in curling.
- To preserve, conserve, interpret and display the arts, heritage and future of the sport of curling.
- To make provision for disabled people and those who are impaired or have special needs to introduce them and assist them in their enjoyment of curling.
As a Trust we hold the largest collection of curling items, archive materials and paintings in the world, dating back to the 1700s. This collection is catalogued in a virtual museum which can be viewed at https://ehive.com/collections/5033/scottish-curling-trust.
The Role
We are looking for trustees with a deep appreciation and/or interest the heritage of curling and a strong desire to support the development of the sport and champion diversity and inclusion. In addition, Trustees should be able to think strategically, identify opportunities, manage risk and provide financial and governance oversight.
The Trust would also value experience in any of the following areas:-
- Museum curation and curatorial leadership to help us preserve and promote the rich history of curling in Scotland
- Experience of the museum sector or heritage management with activities related to preservation and documentation of our curling collection.
- Digital storage of historical artefacts/archival management
- Marketing and communication.
- Fundraising and sponsorship
