SCOTLAND MISS PLAY-OFFS AT WWHCC 2024
Scotland were being represented by Hugh Nibloe, Gregor Ewan, Robert McPherson, Meggan Dawson Farrell, and Gary Smith, coming in as a last minute substitute for Gary Logan, at the SD Biosensor World Wheelchair Curling Championship 2024, hosted from 2 to 9 March 2024 in Gangneung, Korea. The Scots finished 10th in the overall standings and missed the play-offs.
Scotland had a tough start to the championship with two successive defeats by a point only to Latvia and Norway. With the lack of momentum, losses to Italy and Korea followed before the Scots missed out to Czechia and United States, again by a single point only on both occasions.
However, up against Canada in their seventh fixture, Scotland stole in three consecutive ends to gain an advantage and brought it home to record their first win of the competition. They followed it up with another success, this time over Estonia, before Sweden had too much to offer.
Bouncing back swiftly, the Scots had the brighter start versus Slovakia, leading 5-0 after three ends, and held on to their advantage to clinch victory in their penultimate game. Up against Olympic champions China in their final fixture, Scotland concluded the championship with a defeat.
On a three in eight record, Scotland sat 10th in the overall standings at the end of proceedings.
