SDS’ ALAN OLIVER DELIVERS SUCCESSFUL WORKSHOP ON ADHD

We were delighted to welcome Alan Oliver of Scottish Disability Sport back to Scottish Curling to deliver an online workshop on ADHD. Many thanks to Alan for hosting and to all coaches who attended.

Hidden disabilities are present in everyday life, underscoring the importance of supporting coaches in their efforts to foster inclusivity and enhance coaching delivery.

Alan delivered an invaluable and insightful workshop on ADHD. He provided an in-depth understanding of ADHD, its manifestations, the implications of having ADHD, and effective ways for coaches to support individuals with ADHD.

The workshop also equipped coaches with methods and techniques to modify and deliver sessions inclusively, ensuring the chance of active participation in curling for individuals with ADHD.

The week starting 27 November to 3 December marks Scottish Disability Sport Week, celebrating getting active and involved in disability sport in Scotland. The campaign aims to highlight and promote the opportunities and the impact physical activity can have on individuals, communities, clubs and society across the country.  It will also provide a platform to showcase the intersectionality of participants within disability sport and share the message that everyone can participate in sport.
