Success for Scotland at the Four Nations

This year it was the turn of Scotland to host the Four Nations which took place at Ayr Ice Rink at the weekend. Over one hundred curlers from all over the United Kingdom gathered to play in the prestigious tournament. The initial competition between Scotland and England dates back to 1895 with the other events following on over the years.

Seven trophies were contested for between Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and England in a busy schedule with over 30 highly competitive matches. Scotland were involved in four of the trophy fights: Scotland Men faced England Men for the Tom Ballantyne Trophy while Scotland Women contested England Women for the Connie Miller Trophy. Mixed Teams played Wales for The Big Bertha Stone and Ireland for the Marshall Millennium Trophy respectively.

Scotland successfully retained the Tom Ballantyne Trophy, beating England over eight matches, as well as the Connie Miller Trophy, competing over two matches. The Scottish delegation also won The Big Bertha Stone for the first time in three years. However, Ireland once more proved too strong and retained the Marshall Millennium Trophy.
