TEAM 9 STORMS TO NEWCOMERS TROPHY WIN

Congratulations to the Team 9 squad of Joshua Watson (Hamilton), Leo Pugh (Greenacres), Emily Ward (Hamilton), and Callum Boswell (Ayr) who won the 2023 Newcomers Trophy at Greenacres.

Team 9 came through the section games with three wins and one defeat progressing to the final as second in the table standings. Only Team 6 (Jake Tsang (Greenacres), Timothy Pooley (Edinburgh), Matthew Whyte (Edinburgh), Oscar McFarlane (Greenacres)) were above them, themselves on a three in one record but with slightly better S/U and T/S numbers.

However, having missed out on table top spot before, Team 9 retaliated in the final. They were first on the board with a three-points steal and didn’t allow Team 6 to fight back, instead stealing another two to extend their lead. Team 9 were on fire and capped things off with a four-points steal that sealed a final result of, fittingly, 9-0.

Elsewhere, Team 3 (Callum Thomson (Greenacres), Fraser Young (Perth), Max Wills (Greenacres), Rowan Burgess (Kinross) and Team 1 (Lilly Barr (Greenacres), Kathryn Smith (Greenacres), Daniel Drummie (Hamilton)) met in the play-off for third. Team 1 stole a single to open the encounter, but Team 3 swiftly took the lead with a three. Team 1 weren’t done though and got a two on the board, meaning the game finished in a three-all draw.
