TEAM CLARK ARE THE SCOTTISH SENIOR MIXED CHAMPIONS 2022-23
Congratulations to Ayr’s Team Clark (Robert Clark, Gail Thomson, Murray Stevenson, Alison Cunningham) who became the 2022-23 Scottish Curling Senior Mixed champions this weekend. They secured the title by beating Stirling rivals Team Murray (Neil Murray, Janes McLaren, Dougie Telfor, Marjorie Christie) 6-2 in the final at Stranraer Ice Rink.
Having both been drawn in Section A, the eventual finalists Team Clark and Team Murray had already faced each other during the group stages of the tournament. Nothing could separate the sides in that first meeting which ended in an 8-8 draw, setting the scene perfectly for the final.
Team Clark went into the game with hammer and took the lead with a two-points score in the opening end. Team Murray could only respond with a single and the momentum stayed with the Ayr side who went on to score and steal singles in the next four ends, extending their advantage to 6-1.
One point on the board in End 7 did little for Team Murray who now faced an uphill struggle. The eighth and final end was not completed before the Stirling outfit conceded and hands were shaken with the final scores reading 6-2 in Team Clark’s favour.
