Team Delgaty and Lauder Win National Masters

Congratulations to the winning teams; Team Delgaty (Men’s) & Team Lauder  (Women’s) on winning the National Masters Championships. Greenacres Curling Club sponsored the Championships 7 to 10 March 2013. The 27 rinks were favoured with fast and good swinging ice.

Men’s:

In the final, Team Stevenson took a two in end one but gave up a three in end two when he missed with his last stone and Team Delgaty drew for three. Team Stevenson got one back in end three. A one in end four and a steal in end five gave Team Delgaty a 5 – 3 lead after five. Team Stevenson drew for one against three in end six. Team Delgaty took a six in end seven, final score 11 – 4.

In the men’s semi-finals Team Stevenson (8) v Team Rae (2) & Team Nelson (3) v Team Delgaty (5).

Winners – Team Delgaty:  George Delgaty, Stuart Smith, Bill Duncan & Ian Lindsay.
Runners up – Team Stevenson:  Jim Stevenson, Alistair Sinclair, Jim Boswell & Willie Stevenson.

Women’s:

In the final, Team Lauder picked up two then a three when Team MacDonald was short with a draw in end two. Team MacDonald got off the mark with a draw against two in end three. Score 5 – 1 after three. Another steal off two in end five finished the game as a contest. Final score 10 – 1.

In the Women’s semi-finals Team Wilson (6) v Team Lauder (7) extra end & Team Waddell (5) v Team MacDonald (7)

Winners – Team Lauder:  Margaret Robertson (who skipped Team Lauder) Glynnice Lauder, Venetia Scott & Gillian Smith.
Runners up – Team MacDonald:  Annette MacDonald, Raye Rickard, Mary Paterson & Irene Hird.
